Awareness generation, education and economic development programmes through community organizations


Rural Education and Development Foundation (Read) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to the promotion and improvement of the Socio-economic welfare of the people of the suppressed and oppressed communities. This organization was registered as a Trust under the Indian Trust act 1882 on 5th March1996 at Pudukkottai. The Registration number is 94/96. This Trust is also registered under FCRA and is entitled to receive foreign funds.

The target area of Read is Illuppur and Kulathur Taluk of Pudukkottai District, Tamilnadu and covers a population of 482,104. The target groups of Read are people living in abject poverty especially women belonging to oppressed communities and children at risk.


  • Educational Programmes 1092 children’s are economically backward families received economical support from Read foundation during this year to continue their schooling
  • Counseling Programmes Counseling was gives to the parents as well as to children’s on importance of education and the need for educating the children in mainstream schools.
